Archive: Time Paintings
Seattle, WA 2013-2017
These watercolors employ a methodology for capturing time. Every mark is one moment contained in a calligraphic gesture. Playing with the scale of the mark alters the size of the moment. The pigmentation of the mark evidences the time it took the water to dry; heavier pigments sink faster, and the meniscus of the liquid bubble always pulls more pigment to the rim of the mark. The selected colors and patterns documented my mood.
