Panel: Belonging in Berlin & Beyond: DEIB in Fashion

Guests: Mick Morris Mehnert (Auf Augenhöhe Design), Anbid Zaman (Campaign against Homophobia Germany), Beatrace Angut Oola (Fashion Africa Now)

This panel assembled varying perspectives on the topics of DEIB: diversity, equity and inclusion, and emphasis on belonging. Coming from leadership roles in different communities, we aligned on how fashion – and often, does not – enable all to feel like they belong. Sharing a gamet of personal experiences and speculative fashion futures, we opened the door for storytelling of non-normative fashion practice & culture.

Interview: Craft & Culture: Putting Berlin Talents on The Map

Guests: Sevil Uguz (PLATTE Berlin), Magdalena Schaffrin (VORN – The Berlin Fashion Hub, studio MM04)

Both PLATTE and VORN unite local fashion stakeholders under multi-resourced initiatives. While Platte may be know more for its B2C impact, including its retail experience, VORN – The Berlin Fashion Hub gathers the B2B community. Both operate on wide-ranging projected from education, to authorship, to microfactory experiments, to fashion shows and events. As Berlin continues to define itself as a European fashion landmark, we hear how two seasoned players have designed hubs that direct the city’s creative future.

Interview: The Detto Fatto Impact

Guests: Alice Beyer-Schuch (Detto Fatto), Andreas Bothe (Detto Fatto, Bay City), Eric Knehr (CHT Group), Suvro Dev Saha (Global Apparel)

This interview created a 3D view of a cradle-to-cradle supply chain. Detto Fatto, the world’s first Cradle To Cradle-certified brand, joined us alongside their partners at CHT, their chemical supply, and Global Apparel, their manufacturer, to discuss what in means to take holistic consideration in creating circular fashion products and systems.09/2022: 202030 Summit: Fashion for Positive Impact

Guests: Axel Hahn (Platte Berlin), Cora Hamilton (uns*), Dr. Francesco Mazzarella (UAL, London College of Fashion), Manpreet Kaur Kalra (Art of Citizenry)

This panel brought together voices on intersectional approaches to diversity and inclusion in fashion, both at the local and systemic level. These speakers discussed how fashion can be an outlet for positive social change and activism, while also unveiling some of our biggest stuggles in changing the industy at large.
